40 DAY CYCLE

HCG Cookbook

The hCG diet plan consists of 3 stages: The first 2 load days, the 500 calorie fat burning stage, and the maintenance phase.

Days 1 – 2:

Begin taking the hCG hormone as instructed. These are “loading days,” which consist of eating high fat foods for 2 days. It’s highly suggested to eat a lot of highly concentrated foods. Avocado, salmon, and peanut butter are great options but milk chocolate, pastries, sugar, fried meats, eggs and bacon, mayonnaise work as well; it’s personal preference. For the patients that actually load correctly, they usually do not struggle with the difficulties of hunger and fatigue in the beginning stages of the diet. Patients who do not follow instructions on the loading days have a much more difficult time in the beginning and have a more difficult first week.

Day 3 – until 72 hours after the last dose of hCG:

Continue taking the prescribed dose of hCG. Begin the 500-calorie per day diet.

Must drink  ½ – 1 gallon of water daily. Also be aware that many things contain sugar or fats that we may not realize as: chewing gum, mints, vitamins, cough syrups, etc.

Based on theDr. Simeons Protocol

IF YOU HAVE A MONTHLY MENSTRUAL CYCLE:  it is recommended that you begin this protocol on the third day of your cycle. It is also recommended that if you are in the middle of your protocol and your cycle begins, you should NOT take any HCG for the first three days of the cycle.

  • Not counting the calories in the spices; check to see if any form of sugar is one of the ingredients.
  • Not loading.
  • Mixing vegetables at a meal.
  • Chewing gum or eating mints.
  • Drinking diet drinks.
  • Eating too much beef. Buffalo is less fatty. Eat more chicken and approved fish. Weighing 100 grams after cooking.
  • Eating the same protein for both lunch and dinner. Food selection should be varied.
  • Not drinking enough water. You should be drinking at least 2 quarts of water per day
  • Eating at restaurants. You may think you are ordering plain chicken, but that chicken could have been brushed with olive oil.

HCG Diet Plateau Breakers

Here are the best hCG diet plateau breaking tips that have been found to be very effective when following the hCG Diet Protocol.

Many of the plateau breakers listed can be utilized in both Phase 2 and 3. [P2 and P3 will be indicated below.]

Cantaloupe Plateau Breaker: At bedtime, eat half of a medium sized cantaloupe (make sure to cut it yourself) and drink 1 full glass of water right before you lay down to sleep. You should lose between 0.5-3 pounds the following morning. Eating cantaloupe assists in pulling water out of the fat cell and this action works best while you are asleep. For dieters on the 500 calorie protocol, the 1/2 cantaloupe at bedtime will be your second fruit of the day. For dieters on the 800 calorie protocol, the 1/2 cantaloupe at bedtime will be your third fruit of the day.

There is a 99% success rate for both protocols in P2. It really works!

NEW! Take Calcium pyruvate 3000 mg daily in the morning with food. Pyruvic acid is a natural substance already made in the human body. Higher levels of pyruvic acid in the bloodstream assist in calorie and fat burning and helps to boost metabolism for the entire day. For P2 and P3.

NEW! Ask your prescribing hCG diet weight loss physician to increase your hCG dosage by 25 IU’s daily until you lose weight and then resume the original dosage once the plateau has been broken. Do not increase your hCG dosage without the permission of your prescribing doctor. For P2.

NEW! Drink Oolong, Black and Green Tea as they are made from the Camellia sinensius plant.

There are only 3 types of real tea that have significant health benefits – black, green and oolong, all which increase metabolism and burn fat. For P2 and P3.

NEW! Get enough sleep. Many dieters have reported that not enough sleep has reflected little or no weight loss on the following day. The reason this occurs is if you do not get at least 7 hours of sleep each night, especially on phase 3 when the body is stabilizing your metabolic rate, the body will increase the production of the hormone gherlin which increases appetite and slows down metabolism. For P2 and P3.

NEW! Intense exercise is not needed for success on the HCG diet. If you are on the 500 calorie protocol and have been lifting weights, consider limiting your workouts to just walking on a treadmill for 30 minutes a day. Resistance training builds lean muscle mass. Lean muscle weighs more than fat and may skew your weight loss on the scale. Dieters following the 800 calorie hCG diet protocol may participate in some light resistance training or 30 minutes of low impact aerobics only as tolerated. However, it is best to wait until you have finished the Phase 2 HCG therapy. For P2.

Increase your fluid intake to 3 quarts per day. Additional fluids will assist in promoting adequate digestion, help prevent constipation and may help to flush out toxins and fat. If you are not drinking enough water daily, your body will store water as a means of protection. For P2 and P3.

Try increasing your protein by half an ounce. You may not be eating enough calories per day.

Avoid consuming less than 500 calories daily because your body may store fat or you may not lose any weight. In some cases you may actually gain. For P2.

Limit eating red meat to only 1 or 2 times per week. Red meat digests slowly in the bowel and may slow down weight loss. For P2 and P3.

Make sure you are not using garlic salt or salt substitutes. Garlic powder and sea salt are acceptable. Products such as Mrs. Dash and No Salt are forbidden. For P2.

Do not mix green vegetables. For example; do not mix asparagus and cabbage together. However, you can mix vegies in your salad such as lettuce, tomato, and onion. Just remember that green vegetables should not be mixed. For P2.

Discontinue Grissini bread sticks, Melba toast and Wasa crackers. For P2.

Do not eat the same protein, vegetable or fruit more than once in the same day. For example; do not eat tilapia for lunch and dinner or half a grapefruit for breakfast and the other half for lunch. Metabolism increases when the body has different foods to break down and digest. For P2 and P3.

Make sure there are no antibiotics, flavor enhancers or added rib meat in your chicken or other protein sources. For P2 and P3.

Do not eat any canned food products. Many canned food products contain high fructose corn syrup, preservatives and flavor enhancers that may slow down weight loss. For P2 and P3.

Make sure you buy your proteins raw and without any marinades. For P2 and P3.

For women, your menstrual cycle may cause a water weight gain of 2-5 pounds. Be aware of the date of your last menstrual cycle and never begin the hCG diet right when you start your period. For P2.

If you are not having regular bowel movements, a fiber supplement such as over the counter Senna is highly recommended to be taken daily. It is possible to hold 5 or more pounds of stool in the colon. High protein low fat diets most often will cause constipation. If you have not had a bowel movement for 5 days, an over the counter laxative suppository should be taken. If you do not experience relief then please contact your doctor’s office for further instruction.

Raw Unfiltered Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is the star condiment on this diet. If you suffer from acid reflux or just dislike the taste, consider taking Apple Cider Vinegar Capsules found at most health food stores. ACV has been scientifically proven to release fat within the body and contains similar properties that have been found in grapefruit. For P2.

Dr. Simeons “apple day”. Reduce your fluid intake by 1 quart and eat 6 apples throughout the day. This method typically eliminates excess fluids in the body and most dieters will lose about 2 pounds. This method is not recommended to be followed on a regular basis. For P3.

Dr. Simeons “steak day”. Drink as much fluid as possible throughout the day and then enjoy a large steak for dinner. You may have 1 tomato and an apple with your steak. Many dieters have reported a weight loss of about 2 pounds the following day. For P3.

  • Increase water intake 2-3 quarts a day.
  • Try adding a glass or two of green tea.
  • Cut beef or buffalo down or out.
  • Check all condiments for any form of sugar.
  • Try leaving out one or both bread sticks.
  • Constipation can be a concern. Drink “Smooth MoveTea” or take “SqueakyClean”
  • You will always consume 500 calories per day.
  • Don’t mix more than 1 type of vegetable, protein, or fruit.
  • Don’t eat all 500 calories at once.
  • You are allowed 2 melba toast per day, factor the calories into your 500.
  • You can’t eat the same protein in same day.

  • Two small apples do not equal one regular apple.
  • No juicing; be sure to eat all the flesh of an orange or grapefruit.
  • Don’t substitute other fruits even if they are low in calories.
  • Meat can be cooked by broiling, grilling, or baking, but don’t use any additional fat or oils during cooking.
  • Do NOT use aerosol cooking sprays.
  • Use food scale; weigh meat raw. Remove all visible fat.
  • CHICKEN CHOICES: Boneless, skinless chicken breast only.

** use the apple day during the 500 calorie phase if your weight stalls for 2 or more days **

  1. Breaking the plateau can be done by what is called an “apple day.”  An apple day should be performed when the weight stays the SAME for more than 2 – 3 days in a row.
  2. An apple day begins at lunch and continues until just before lunch of the following day.
  3. The patients are given six (6) large apples and are told to eat one whenever they feel the desire though six apples is the maximum allowed.
  4. During an apple day no other food or liquids except plain water are allowed and of water they may only drink just enough to quench an uncomfortable thirst if eating an apple still leaves them thirsty.
  5. Most patients feel no need for water and are quite happy with their six apples.
  6. The apple day begins at lunch times and continues to just before lunch the following day.
  7. The following day, return to the normal 500 calorie diet.
  8. An apple day may never be given on the day on which there is no injection. The apple day produces a gratifying loss of weight on the following day.

  • Breastfeeding, pregnancy
  • BMI under 20, body fat percentage under 15%
  • Prior reaction to HCG
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome – PCOS
  • Recent major medical illness- heart attack or stroke

Drinks: Water 1/2 to 1 gallon of water per day. You will retain water if your intake falls below its normal requirements. Tea, coffee, mineral water and Zevia (natural sugar free soda) are allowed.

Condiments: Juice of one lemon daily, apple cider vinegar, Bragg Liquid Amino’s, salt, pepper, mustard powder, garlic, basil, parsley, thyme, marjoram may be used for seasoning. Read all labels on spices as many contain sugar. Salsa or pico de gallo with no sugar in moderation. Truvia or Stevia is an excellent sugar substitute. Other artificial sweeteners like Splenda, Sweet n Low, NutraSweet and Equal contain toxic ingredients like saccharin, sucralose and aspartame and should not be used while on the hCG diet. Chicken or Beef bouillon cubes (carbohydrate free). Pure horseradish, All natural Hickory Liquid Smoke (no sugar no msg), minced onions. Use Pam as your cooking Spray.

Exercise: Exercise isn’t necessary for the diet to work, but going for a 30 minute daily walk can help a little. Stay away from aerobics and running, you will get very hungry and fatigued.

Weigh in: Get a digital scale.   Weigh yourself every day at the same time after you have emptied your bladder first thing in the morning, record your weight every day on the chart provided. Be sure to take your measurements before beginning, as some days you will not notice any weight loss but you will see loose of inches. Measure each week at the same time of day and record your results. You will be amazed!

Cosmetics: Most makeups and lotions are made with fatty materials that can be absorbed by the body just as if they were eaten and will interfere with weight reduction. Here are some alternative suggestions: Neutrogena Oil free Moisture Face Lotion, mineral oil, Baby oil, Coconut oil, Aloe Vera gel, Alba free lotion, Mineral makeup. Lip products are permitted. Shampoo and Conditioner are okay but rinse thoroughly after each use. Leave in conditioners are discouraged.

Note: Many have used cosmetics and lotions without a negative effect on their weight loss. However, it you notice a drop off or slowing in your weight loss while using these products, discontinue using them.

SIDE EFFECTS & POTENTIAL ADVERSE REACTIONS:  Increased fertility, headache, irritability, depression, fatigue, edema, precocious (premature) puberty, gynocomastia, injection site pain and/or bruising, electrolyte imbalances, dizziness, constipation, hypersensitivity reactions which include erythema, uticaria, rash angioedema, dyspnea and shortness of breath. A possibility of ovarian hyper stimulation (a syndrome of sudden ovarian enlargement ascites and/or pleural effusion) – IF YOU HAVE A HISTORY OF PCOS — PLEASE INFORM THE PRACTITIONER; multiple births; thromboembolism; migraine; Electrolyte imbalances.

WHAT ARE OTHER POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS FROM HCG THERAPY?  Minimal pain at the injection site, water retention, pelvic pains, nausea, and breast tenderness. It’s not uncommon to find some swelling, redness, burning, or itching at the injection site. If it does not subside however, please contact your practitioner or go to the nearest emergency center right away.

CAUTIONS:  HEADACHES are most commonly due to caffeine withdrawal. When initiating the diet with caffeine drinkers, it is advisable to forewarn them to gradually reduce caffeinated drinks while adding in water so as to not go through a quick withdrawal, which usually produces headaches. Other common reasons for headache are the change in diet which is dramatic for many. If this is the reason, it will typically reverse within a couple of days.  IRRITABILITY is most commonly from change in routine, which again will typically reverse in a couple of days. This is a listed side effect of HCG but has been extremely rare to see in practice at the low doses used for weight loss.   FATIGUE may occur and can be treated with an IM dose of Vitamin B12, which often makes patients feel markedly better within a day.   SLEEP is often improved in length and quality during the protocol. Stamina is sometimes is decreased and sometimes is increased. Most patients report increased energy over the course of the diet.

Strict diet compliance is necessary to experience success on the center’s HCG diet program.  Patients will be administered HCG by self-injection or taken by sublingual tablet (under the tongue) and will be monitored by the medical providers at Indian Lake Medical Weight Loss & Wellness, Pllc on a biweekly to weekly basis.

ATTENTION FEMALES:  Do NOT take the HCG while the first few “heavy days” of your menstrual cycle. The increase in your hormone levels may cause you to bleed heavier than normal or you may skip your period entirely. It is recommended to start the HCG medication at least 10 days before your menstrual cycle begins or immediately after. You must stop the HCG medication as soon as your period begins. When you notice only a small amount of spotting (about 3 or 4 days later depending on your cycle), you may resume the medication.  Again, we recommend that you hold the HCG during the first 2-3 days of a female’s menstrual cycle; to prevent heavy bleeding/menstruating at the start of the menses.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:  Anyone with a body fat below 15%, a history of hormone responsive (hormone loving) cancers – remission or active (breast, uterine, ovarian, prostate, cervical), prior reaction to HCG, recent major medical illness (heart attack or stroke), body dysmorphic disorder, BMI under 20, current cancer of any type (with the exception of skin cancer), suspicious mass being evaluated for a possible cancer, pregnancy, breastfeeding, unstable medical state (i.e. recent myocardial infarction or cardiac arrest, recent bypass surgery or stenting/angioplasty, recent hospitalization for major medical illness or poorly controlled medical condition), malignant hypertension (>180/120), precocious puberty (sexual and physical body changes that happen earlier than normal), or any other condition which makes the doctor feel may be unsafe. Ovarian hyper stimulation (a syndrome of sudden ovarian enlargement ascites and/or pleural effusion) – IF YOU HAVE A HISTORY OF PCOS — PLEASE INFORM THE PRACTITIONER;
